Britney Spears Making Profit on Timber Investment
Pop star Britney Spears has been criticized for many of the decisions she’s made. But there’s at least one thing she has got right and that’s money management.
Much of her £95 million fortune has been invested in traditional ways - she has homes in Malibu, California and Orlando, Florida as well as London.
However, a few years ago the 28-year-old singer spent £3.1 million buying up forest in her native Louisiana.
While her property portfolio has taken a knock with the recession (she is selling a mansion in Beverly Hills, California for £750,000 million less than she bought it for in 2007), she is said to already be making good returns on the money she invested in forestry.
So why was Britney Spears interested in buying trees? Timber is one of the only low-risk, high-return investments out there; it has risen steadily in price for over 200 years and has returned an average of 6.5 per cent a year for the last century.
The investment is also not taxed: there is no income, capital gains or inheritance tax on woodland.
Not only does timber consistently outperform bonds, gold and stocks as a long-term investment, it is also carbon friendly.
Andrew Skeene, of Global Forestry Investments http://www.globalforestryinvestments.com/, said: “Britney made a wise choice to invest in forestry. She did it at a time when the world was about to plunge into recession. The property market collapsed, but investments in forestry are continuing to go from strength to strength.”
So perhaps Britney Spears hasn’t made as many mistakes as people had thought.
Global Forestry Investments offer people the chance to invest in tropical hardwood trees. It is an opportunity to become involved with one of the greenest and highest performing commodities of the last 100 years.
